In the Fall of 2018, a private client commissioned Taylor Workshop to create a sculptural structure to act as an exterior ceiling element between their buildings. The Spruce Goose bridged two buildings through a gesture of movement. Suspended over the joining courtyard, this sculpture scales down the space, defining the zone and diffusing noise. Designed through digital fabrication methods, the structure was first 3D modeled, rendered in place, and CNC prototyped from wood. Our fabrication team constructed the finished piece from phenolic plastic sheets.
